FOR WOMENS RIGHTS.
The Power of Art and Design Coming Together.
Inspired by their desire to support women and women's rights around the world, Designer Delfina Balda and Artist Patricia Iglesias partnered to create the "Ovaries Project." Their collaboration consists of two Peruvian cotton shirts, each printed with a piece of Iglesias's art that celebrates the power of the female anatomy.
As part of the "Ovaries Project," they chose people who they felt were inspiring, empowered and who embraced their message, and photographed them wearing the shirts. Pamela Love, Mona Fastvold, Lotta Nieminen, Tarajia Morrell, Audrey Louise Reynolds, Marina Munoz and her kids, and more, have all taken part.
FOR WOMENS RIGHTS.
Delfina Baldassarre and Patricia Iglesias were both born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Patricia Iglesias has participated in several group and solo shows, both in the United States and Argentina. Delfina Baldassarre founded her Brooklyn, New York based fashion brand in 2012 selling in the United States and Internationally.
The project was born from a studio visit Delfina paid to Patricia to start a conversation about a print collaboration. Delfina's first impresion was of a wall covered in beautiful Ovaries, the necessity of current events prompted the Ovaries project.
Both Women care very much about giving back to the community and for womens rights. Fashion, especially in the age of social media, can be a strong tool for not just fundraising, but also a platform to tap into wide audiences and raise awareness about important issues that affect us all. Fashion can be a provocative part of culture, playing the role of being a medium for conversation, for statements, for debates. It opens a deeper channel for social concerns.
